Adding captions to videos
Salvador Rodriguez
I create language learning videos and having captions both in Spanish or in English is one of the most useful features for students, they can decide if they watch the content with or without them. Also, it allows users in general to enjoy any content and watch videos without using earphones, or in any place where turning on the speakers is inconvenient. This is one of the most successful strategies for video creators on instagram, for example. Ofc, we could insert the captions in the edition process, but I think being able to choose the language, and turning on and off is important.

Close Caption Subtitle Support

Would be nice if the video player can support close caption subtitle so users can choose to enable/disable subtitles or to choose the language they wish to view the subtitle in

Thinkific is now offering auto-subtitles, as does Zoom offer live captioning and in replay... this is a must have for accessability

Thank you for providing more details, Internal_Art Serene!
Is it ok to add this as the request, then?:
Ability to upload .srt files + any other additional files.
Please, let me know,

Alvaro Salazar: yes that would be great, thank you!

Alvaro Salazar: Hey -- just wanted to check in if this is in the pipeline? Because I think I'll soon need it as a basic requirement for my program.

Alvaro Salazar: yes please! I have many non native english speaking users and those who are hard of hearing who will be completing the courses and watching tutorials. It's vital to add this as optional rather than embedding captions in all the videos as standard so that I can add options for captions in more than one language to ensure accessibility for users around the globe.

Hi Internal_Art Serene, thanks for your post!
Amazing that you want to make your content available for different audiences!
Currently you can use the youtube video widget to have localized subtitles for your customers, which you can set up with these instructions:
Alternatively, you can use a third party software to add subtitles for your video files, and then upload them inside the platform.
Here are some companies that do this:
If you have additional ideas, please keep them coming!

Alvaro Salazar: thanks for your reply. I am very well aware on the tools available out there for generating the .srt files. My issue is with the native passion.io player not able to load the .srt files with the video uploaded, as I would love to have just one video but show two different subtitle languages, instead of rendering my video twice with two different open captions.
I know I can use youtube widget to get around this, but youtube videos are easy do be downloaded with 3rd party softwares and it is not my favorable option at this time.
